In For A Penny (Brit-pop/pop-rock?) Needs bed/instruments/male vocals

I've arrived at a point beyond embarrassment.  :P  I'll throw an a cappella out anywhere if I think it might snare a bedtrack, a musician or two, and a vocalist (male, in this case).   ;)
The lyric's a lot looser than I usually write. (I need to try this more often. ;)) For some reason, the nursery rhyme "London Bridge" was running through my head, so I let it take over. The song's meant to have a kind of zany, off-beat, frantic vibe to it. (My rough a cappella vocal guide doesn't reflect this very well.) The lyric seems long, but uptempo it would likely stay around the 3 minute mark, even with instrumental breaks.

If anyone feels like playing around with it, drop me a line first via PM. The melody is just to get this off the ground, and is open to improvisation/improvement or change. All suggestions welcome.  ;)

In For A Penny

(v1)
I always suspected
That under the laughter
The beat of your heart
Hid a voice that was dafter
Than all of the folly
We fought to contain
You see [you see, you see]
The effect of you was like
Some acoustic light
In my Disney fog
I felt explicit
You were illicit
A woman of such warm consequence
How could I resist
Your frantic eyelash-madness dance

Pre-chorus
But don't mess with me now
Don't mess with me now
Because

Chorus
In for a penny
In for a pound
The ferris wheel
Goes round and round
You were here
But now you're gone
My London Bridge
Is falling down

(v2)
Our bedroom of rainbows
Had curtains of satin
With every colour
A new wonder happened
And such was the folly
I fought to contain
You see [you see, you see]
The effect of you was like
A pathway to exile
Under the jungle
I felt explicit
You were illicit
A woman of such dire consequence
I couldn't resist
Never believed in coincidence

Pre-chorus
But don't mess with me now
Don't mess with me now
Because

Chorus
In for a penny
In for a pound
The ferris wheel
Goes round and round
You were here
But now you're gone
My London Bridge
Is falling down

Bridge
I climbed the edge of our universe
Picked fruit like a love-sick lemur
To give you something I thought was true
But nothing, oh nothing, nothing
Ever quite had an edge like you

Pre-chorus
So take your final bow
Take your final bow
Because

Chorus
In for a penny
In for a pound
The ferris wheel
Went round and round
You were here
But now you're gone
My London Bridge
Is falling down

My London Bridge
Is falling down

WOW ... it's good to finally hear your voice Donna !! You can't fool us anymore now, we know you can sing !!!!

I'm a bit swamped now ( haven't even started on the other lyric you posted I said I do ... it will come tho) so I'll pass on this one for now. But I highly recommend you get someone to make the music and then add your vocals too it !! I suspect they will be Devine :D

Geir, you're too kind.  ;D  No way would I sing.  :D
Anyway, the lyric is best suited to male vocals. And with luck, with a British accent.  ;))

(Can't wait to hear what you come up with for "So Much He Could Tell Us".  ;) )
