Worked this one up this weekend.  I had to get one in for Piratefest, lets get this piratefest rolling!  I thought I would give the obscure and shadowy story of Lobster-man.  His history is shrouded in mystery and no one knows if this is the real story or not.  I found his story written down on old brown parchment in a musty old library while I was over on my vacation to PEI.  It is the best that is known about how Lobster-man came to be, here be his sorry story.  All instruments are my Godin xtSA guitar played through my GR-20 guitar synth. Here is the tale... may all who hear it tremble in the night.

*Thanks to 64G for the really classy parchment scroll image to put the lyrics inside.

The Legend of Lobster-Man

Now Gather around me hearties
For I've got a sad tale to be told
Hoist the colors ye bilge rats
The call rang out, we were off for gold
Grog in our bellies, horn-pipes a playing
We sailed with the moon marking time
The capt'n seemed nervous with dark waters furious
Fever was playing tricks with our minds

CHORUS: Brethren of the coast
Lets have us a toast
Not one will survive the night
Stand and face our death
For no one will be left
When the darkness swallows the light

I was the first to see the scowling figure
As dark as the seas were that night
With barnacles scraping and eye sockets gaping
I could see Fiddlers Green in my fright

CHORUS

Battle Scene

The dark creature came over
It spotted me hiding in my hole
I'll give you a choice and don't say NO
A chest of gold in return for your soul
All my pirate brethren
Were dying or dead on the deck
It seemed I had no choice at all
I said yes and it grabbed me by my neck

CHORUS

A terrible curse has befallen me
And now I pay my dues
I lost more than my soul that night
How could I have been such a fool
I live at the bottom of the ocean
With sea creatures for my kind
My skin has become as hard as a shell
My claw hands seek what they can find

CHORUS

Your double tracked vocals are fantastic Dave. That's some of the finest singing I have ever heard from you.

The fight with the outstanding guitar work was awesome!

that flute that sounds like somebody playing a jug is a great touch.

The soundscape here is massive Dave. You really got a workout on the GR-20.

Outstanding composition. I'm going on vacation in the morning, and this is going with me. Outstanding!

This is my favourite BB song so far. Nice job on the vocals. And it's great to hear the GR-20 with an xtSA. I had been hoping to buy an AXON AX-100 for my xtSA. But now that it's no longer being made, I think I might have to get a Roland guitar synth. Judging from the sounds you've created here, that might work out just fine for me.

Drums sound great too. Is that the BR-1200's loop phrase feature? The tempo changes worked really well.

Can you post the lyrics, please?

Hell yeah!!!! Brilliantly constructed, bro! I love the song, and it does have that seafaring beauty to it. Great storytelling, too, with awesome vox and that far out solo was dynamite!

The bar has been set very high for PirateFest!! I'm scared - The ghost of lobster man will be haunting me in my sleep tonight.

You won't believe this, but I just got back from the Hampton Seafood Festival after watching a buddy of mine compete in a lobster roll eating contest! Third place, which was handily respectable. $150 prize and 14 free lobster rolls - I attribute this great song to his good fortune!

Oh, I had to dig Greg Brady out of the basement for this one, and after I pulled the duct tape off his mouth he proclaimed how far-out, groovy and right-on this legendary tune was!

But...but....but...... the world isn't ready for Lobster Man yet!?!??

Nevertheless, I loved this, the words are brilliant and I love the battle scene and the guitar synth bits, especially at the end. Great fun, a true Piratefest classic!

Cheers.
