When my wife & I met we were both on the rebound and very hesitant to commit to the word "Love" and came up with several other ways to show we cared.
This is all resting and depending on a fabulous rhythm track 48 posted.
I simply added words and melody, stealing the chords from a jazz standard Blue Bossa
Thanks 48

||:Who will be the first to say "I care"
D-7b5      G7         C-7  (D-7b5 G7)
Would this declaration fill the air
  C-7                       F-7
Could this  move a quiet ocean
D-7b5               G7         C-7
Could this , set the waves in motion
Eb-7      Ab7         DbM7
Until they pound upon this shore
D-7b5     G7              C-7  (D-7b5 G7)
As they   have for years before
        C-7                  F-7
And it turned the solid rock to sand
D-7b5                G7                  C-7
Just so we could lie here hand in hand
(D-7b5 G7)
Wondering :||

Let me be the first to say I care
let this declaration fill the air
Let this move the quiet ocean
Let this set the waves in motion
Until they pound upon this shore
As they have for years before
And turned the solid rock to sand
Just so we could lie here hand in hand

Thanks Alex, This came as a surprise as I'd forgotten this version.
As with most of my songs, I have since done other versions of it. I found I couldn't really replicate this in a live condition so did an "unplugged" version as well. It's a fun exercise.

This song is ready for an album. Excellent composition and vocal.

Awesome is too mild a word to completely describe it.

After listening to this one I'm selling my guitars.
