Whistling Jack Smith... that video is freaking me out! It's one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. He's just plain wrong!

Whistling Jack Smith isn't a real person. The name was invented for this one studio session. The whistling on the recording was actually done by John O'Neill who's best known for his whistling on the main theme from the 1966 film "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly".

After the song was recorded, Billy Moeller was hired to tour as Whistling Jack Smith. He's the brother of Tommy Moeller who was the lead vocalist of the group Unit 4 + 2, and co-writer of their 1965 #1 hit "Concrete and Clay". That could be Billy Moeller in the Beat Club video, or it could be some actor. Either way, he's just lip-sync whistling to the original recording.

Awsome job, sounds great.  Man you are a professional whistler.  How did you keep your lips from drying out. what is the secret?
