No time for Zappa at the moment, but we did try an aggressive version of this tune by John Mayer last Thursday.  I posted an earlier version previously but deleted it.  I think we're getting closer, but we ain't there yet.

I just meant I don't feel we are locked in.  Take the noise during the solo for instance, which is probably why I resorted to that shreddy lick.  I find that this (along with most funk) needs to have a sparse arrangement.  Having one prominent guitar helped, but I still think we play best when Everett and I stay out of each other's way.
