Here's my next one hot off the BR1600.

I decided to raid the vaults for this. It's a song I wrote in 1994 (21st August, to be exact :D).

I recorded a quick version on my MBR the other day, one acoustic, one voice, to find out what my performance was like...

Decided I needed to practise for a few days, then powered up the beast...

Things, er, got slightly out of hand... ::)

"Sleeping With The Ghost"
Words and music by A A J Russe

On a wide wooden stair
Cleaned with great care
I asked you to leave me alone
You follow me still
Take no note of my ill
And promise me pleasures unknown
And what of the days I spend dreaming?
The nights I must wander awake?
Why can't you see I'm still grieving?
Your offer of pleasure is late

With time necessarily
Unbearably heavily
Weighing on me as it does
I see you each night
Your troubles are light
I see no red stain on your glove
But what of the child that I married?
What of the burden I bear?
And what of the son that she carried?
Both lost on this same wooden stair
What of the son that she carried?
Both lost on this same wooden stair

It seems to me
That centuries
Of grieving
And asking
Forgiveness of she
Have not
In any way
Prepared me
To lay with someone
Of your century

So why can't you see I'm still grieving?
I'll not rest 'til she forgives me

   All that I need
Is just a piece of paper
To say a few lines
Make up my mind
So she can read it later
When I'm gone

Wow, wow, wow...it seems to me there are some professional musicians here. I played this loud at home and it is unbelievably good. Your singing is amazing. I think I remember now someone here told me to check your posts and I can see why. I will definetely try not to miss a post from you.

man oh man this is powerful stuff you have gone and made me wet my pants again andy, you sure are taming that beast of a br. production, song, singing, harmonies ,instrumentation, arrangement , playing are all stellar, this should be on the radio. i know you are not long with your new br so it's frightening just thinking about what you will do with it as you become more familiar with it.

this is straight to the piepod stunning.

Out of hand?

I remember the first song of yours I heard.  I thought it was simply too good to have been done on a Micro BR.  It took me a long time to accept that it had been.  Now I'm experiencing the same incredulity, and thinking this had to have been done in a pro studio.

Enough about the production quality. What's the story behind this song?

This is already on the piePod.
