I'm taking the RPM challenge - It's not a "best musician gets the cup" challenge, but more a "get off your ass and record an album" challenge.

For the course of the month of February 2010, I'm going to try and create an RPM album, and I will be posting my notes and progress on this thread. Comments and extreme criticism are welcome. Everything recorded will be conceptualized from scratch during the month of February.

I'm going to put music first for one month of my life, good or bad. But hopefully good, though!

This is my first snippet. Derived from the book "Down and out in Paris in London" in some weird way. I messed with a bass noodle and then played with some power chords. After that I sang a few lines so I wouldn't forget my idea.

Recorded on the Boss Micro BR with the Metal Flange patch for guitar, and Chorus Only for vocals, with the EQ cut in both.

Lyric segment:

Devious

Been traveling my crooked way
My feelings like
An unleashed dog on the run

I've roamed a mile in those shoes
I'm really glad
Those sidewalkin' days are done

When I look at you
The peace flag flies
And I want to call you the one

But those eyes are devious, girl
You remember when
We had our days in the sun

My second entry. I was a little sick with the swine fever over the past few days so I couldn't really do what I wanted with it. I'll just have to rework it later.

Recorded directly into the MBR one take. MIC setting P03:Ag3b Cmp

A song about our ability to deal with whatever comes at us.

Lyrics:

When we're born
No, we haven't got a clue
Where we are

We get lost on the way
To the destination
We don't even know we are going to

Is that the best thing, or would
You rather know where you are going
from the start?

Is that the best thing, or would
You rather keep your destiny
In the dark?

But I always seem to find my way home
Yes, I always seem to find my way home

When we die
We sometimes don't get the chance
To say goodbye

We may find
That nobody really cares
About us anyway

Is that the best thing, or would
You rather leave a hole
In someone's heart?

Is that the best thing, if
You knew you left a giant hole
In my heart?

But I always seem to find my way home
Yes, I always seem to find my way home

What an exciting journey you've started !!

"Devious" is a typical "Mark-song", the kind I love !! Tight playing and great singing with that distinct voice of yours! Agree, it should be longer !!

And then the "new Mark" ... the acoustic troubadour. Still with your originality in chord progressions and melody, but more raw and naked. Love that new Mark too !!!

Looking forward to the next one already

Hey really nice tune, have wriitten a few on the same subject, but there is no real answer unless you belive in a god, have been brought up to belive in god and sometimes go to church and when  I,m their find some peace, but then look around at my fellow humans and say how could they ?
