Oh yeah there is definately Prog blues Mike.  Jethro Tull is a good example right off the top of my head, the lead guitarist was playing heavy blues with a Les Paul against flute, and keyboards.  That may be a neat thing to Google "Prog Blues".  I can't wait to hear what you come up with Mike, it will add some more texture to your sound!!!!  Don't forget to play with effects too.  I go from kaoss out into some Boss effects pedals (delay, chorus, phaser, OD) and then into microBR or my amp and it sounds real great.  I have run it through my wah pedal also.  Or plug into the microBR and dial up a guitar effect (likeRT is a good one for this), groovy man!!!!!  The sky is the limit with this little thing.  Just remember, any body part will do,  you don't have to play it with just your finger, experiment.
