Ahh! That makes sense. But it is more of a language thing rather than a music thing, no? Nice find though.

The nearest I've heard anyone get to the lost note is Bill Withers on Aint No Sunshine when he keeps singin a note sharper than F# but flatter than G. Maybe it's that flat G that's the lost note. Then when we fret the G, it wouldn't go sharp ? Maybe the Greeks had 2 G's? 1 slightly sour and one perfect. Gnome Sane?

I just learned about this the other day! I thought it was my bad tuning but the fussier I got the worse it was.
I now tune by chords. I tune to an E chord then an A then a D then a G then a C
If they all sound ok, I'm pretty much set to go.
