Looking at that fingerboard makes my eyes hurt  ???

the answer is simple.
just buy a Gibson Robot Guitar.
geir you will be amazed how much strings go out of tune...even with just 1 song.
and i mean with well played in strings. ok if you just strum a bit the tuning does not get afected too much but bending does affect the tuning.
pop the tone pot ...strum the strings and the on-board computer will put the guitar to perfect pitch.
hey and its so much fun to see the machine heads turn themselves.

I can tune by ear.......

It is polite and right to tune....

But if your song needs ad different tuning....What is the point of sticking to standard....

The ass hole that wanted to do soundtracks with us G......

He complained that our stuff was not in standard tuning.......

He thought it was a failing...........

More that he didn't have the skill to accommodate....

My view is that is that if it sounds good (a semi-tone or octave out of standard), it is in tune.......

Screw the clinicians if they don't like it.........

Peace

Not if your a bass player!  (sorry just came from jokes thread)

Not possible the best you can hope for is equally out of tune.  As pointed out some things can be done to minimize the issue.
To be pleased with one's limits is a wretched state.

About what?

I want that double neck acoustic/electric guitar. That's pretty damn cool.

Of course the "only" draw-back with that well-tempered guitar is that you can't use alternate tunings!

Ok then I will need one drop-D, dobble-drop D, Open G , ..........

I think I'll need a building loan to finance this .....

and that doubleneck acoustic/electric is a must ... with that hot neck

Ah!!! I mean, he did talk about a few things, so I was unsure which thing you were referring too. heh  ;)

Geir - That not as much a problem for me. I actually only like playing in standard tuning. I think it's because I've always played a guitar with a trem and it's a big pain to keep switching the tunings. :/
