Another Reggied version for the fest, now back to work ......Thanks for listening
Edna Million in a drop dead suit
Dutch Pink on a downtown train
Two dollar pistol but the gun won't shoot
I'm in the corner I n the pouring rain
16 men on a deadman's chest
And I've been drinking from a broken cup
2 pairs of pants and a mohair vest
I'm full of bourbon, I can't stand up

Hey little bird, fly away home
Your house is on fire, your children are alone
Hey little bird, fly away home
Your house is on fire, your children are alone

Schiffer broke a bottle on Morgan's head
And I've been stepping on the devil's tail
Across the stripes of a full moon's head
Through the bars of a Cuban jail
Bloody fingers on a purple knife
A flamingo drinking from a cocktail glass
I'm on the lawn with someone else's wife
Come admire the view from up on top of the mast

I said, hey little bird, fly away home
Your house is on fire, your children are alone
Hey little bird, fly away home
House is on fire, your children are alone

Yellow sheets in a Hong Kong bed
Stazybo horn and a Slingerland ride
To the carnival is what she said
A hundred dollars makes it dark inside

hey little bird, fly away home
Your house is on fire, your children are alone
Hey little bird, fly away home
House is on fire, your children are alone

I'm not familiar with alot of tom waites stuff ,vocally he just doesn't do it for me.
I think to me he comes across as a bob Dylan type artist where his cover versions from other artists fair better than the original.
So I've not heard this song before  but I like your version.
It's got soul.
Nice one Trev.

Alright... Unlike your cover of "Jesus Gonna Be Here" this definitely sounds like a Tom Waits impersonation – and well done. This is another forgotten song in my MP3 library that I haven't played in 16 years. But I immediately would have known who this song was by just from your vocal performance.

Solid work man.. actually reminds me of Springsteen.
I really like the keys.
Your vocals crack me up... not that they are funny per se but just how many voices you can conjure up.

Excellent Trev. There is a deep vibe in the vocal, I think you are tapping into Waites vibe so that is cool. Loads of personality coming out. Excellent.

A very different voice to that of "I don't wanna grow up", but it theTworegs voices that I prefer ;)
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Man. This is GOOD!!!!

I'd like to hear you do "Tom Traubert's Blues".  I bet you could nail that!

By and large, jazz has always been like the kind of a man you wouldn't want your daughter to associate with.

OK to cover but please let me know first.  Thanks!

An excellent and flavoursome cover. The Reggied vocal is a very comfortable fit with Mr Waits, and the music has the right vibe - like a slightly disjointed carnival.
