The milk is spilt; cards are dealt
Horse has bolted the stable
Values, ethics and way of life
Raped on the pubs pool table
Six o clock news lights another fuse;
Don't matter if it's fact or fable
Never mind, the kids get fat;
Just watching it all on cable.

Election due, slush fund paid
All the candidates hot and hyped
Babies kissed, no votes missed
The mandate so stereotyped
Mistakes forgotten, whatever's rotten
All the bad credit wiped
Sit at your PC with cigarette
Talk to your god on Skype.

My room is cold
Dark and damp
The walls festooned with mould
Something so wrong
That I should feel so young
Yet at the same time
Feel so old.

Here we all are; beaten and lost
In the forest of our own silence
Stumbling around blindly feeling out
For the next ruthless tyrants
Morals crumbled, ethics dissolved
Threatened with our own subsidence
All resolved with the threat of the debts,
Blind terror and mindless violence.

Heartbreaking song that sounds so beautiful...hard to do this as well as this......

I can really relate here in the States. Sad but true, striving for truth to power. Genius song writing and performance! 8)

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Zoltan

The playing. The poetry. The truth in the words. A master songsmith at his best.

The use of instrumentation is great. The acoustic sounds fantastic, the tastefully done licks (keys, electric guitar) are all immaculate. There's a lot to be said about proper arranging and this is done so well.

The music and melody may be sublime but the message in the words is screaming out. This is really good songwriting Ray and the production presents the song well without the feeling of being force fed. You are a master songwriter!

Lovely sound on the acoustic. Great lyrics as ever. Very pro sound Ray.

Always a joy to listen to your pro sounding and always have to do two listen one for the lyrics and the other to capture all the superb playing
Bravo my friend

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

So good. I detect a theme in your recent songs. And the theme resonates.

I was a big fan of the Bruce Cockburn album Stealing Fire, and something about this song reminds me of that album — beautiful acoustic playing, but also the sense of sadness and dread expressed so beautifully.

I always have to be in the right frame of mind to listen to your songs ray, as i have to "listen properly" to the words, get lost in the musicians story.
Another beautiful song, from the lyrics to the music and performance and production.
You should be selling albums mate.
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)

Thanks for listening.

just reading the lyrics alone are worth the time.

love your music every single time Ray.

to some degree you are esoteric.  However I think there is enough of the common greatness in your music that would appeal to everyone.  However, you can reach every level of the minds... that is really awesome!

I really find that keyboard way under to be especially thrilling with that acoustic guitar.
Beautiful man... deep man.  Messages of warning too.
