I went into Glasgow city centre recently and was disgusted by state of it ,the poor  homeless people and beggars.
The high Street disappearing.
It's happening all over.
This song is about that.

you used to be so magical
A place that shone out  like a pearl
That glimmers slowly fading away.

You used to be the place to be
You used to be the place to see
The colours are gone, replaced by grey

People living  on the streets
People struggling to eat
Foodbanks sprouting up everywhere.

The new UK
The new UK
I'm living the nightmare
Instead of the dream
The new uk
The new uk
The ship is sinking
Under the weight.

You always had some mystery
You never gave the clues away
Now the revelations claw at your face

The foundations are crumbling down
Your painted like a a circus clown
Your crying as the Eu has drifted away

People struggling with heat
Trying their best to make ends meet
Politicians lying in front of your face.

The new UK
The new UK
I'm living the nightmare
Instead of the dream
The new uk
The new uk
The ship is sinking
Under the weight

The new UK
The new UK
I'm living the nightmare
Instead of the dream

The new uk
The new uk
The ship is sinking
Under the weight

Fighting on the city's Street
We shout about another war
High streets start to disappear
Crime on up.
 along with fear

The new UK
The new UK
I'm living the nightmare
Instead of the dream
The new uk
The new uk
The ship is sinking
Under the weight

The new UK
The new UK
I'm living the nightmare
Instead of the dream

The new uk
The new uk
The ship is sinking
Under the weight

What a great massive rocker. Kenny meets Bruce Springsteen meets U2 ore something like that  ???

This is a great rockin' track, Kenny. First of all the music itself is awesome with excellent vocals and instrumentation along with fantastic production overall. That guitar solo - wow!

Then the lyrics - brilliant and an insightful social comment on the state of not only Glasgow but major cities around the world. Our nearest major city is Sydney and we never go there unless we really, really have to.

Great sound and production, the brass sounds really good. It reminds me of the Alarm

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Great track.enjoyable i like the performance andthe music backing, its catchy and rocks.
as others have said this is a worldwide problem with many cities. alot are like a cross between gotham city and zombieland.

Really worthwhile subject to write about. I read the lyrics and intro to this a few days ago and was looking forward to hearing it. Yeah killer tune. I agree with the others - that brass works very well. Big big sound and man you really sing well here.

The news doesn't get any better here in Ireland I'm afraid... Dublin recently has made the dubious honour of making the list of the 10 most dangerous cities in Europe. I put it down to lack of consequences for serious or petty crime... it's a western world disease I think. Brilliant song Kenny.
