I know this song is on my jukebox (from way back in 2010) but the version there has the old original drum track.  Later that year I started using Toontrack's EZ Drummer and it added a new dimension to my music. I think this was the very first project I used it on.  I just recently came across this on my hard drive.  This is one I didn't need to remix.  It's the original project recorded in what I was using then, Samplitude Music Studio ver. 14.  I don't remember what I was using for  bass back then.

Hope you enjoy!

Your mind's become a mystery
You're tearing everything right out of me
Destroying all my faith and hope
You're pushing me out to the end of my rope
Think you're a diva.  Walk around like you're rich
But all I see is one psychotic bitch
But still I try to get inside of your mind
I start to thinking
it's a waste of my time
Sanity so far away or just a passing thought
or a word you said so long ago
Could be reached again out in the distant void
Oh, help me find a path to your cold reason

I really think you're on a torture spree
But why you are just don't make sense to me
I never fail to give you all that I got
You take my love and put me in this spot
I don't like thinking of just walking away
Cos deep inside I know you want me to stay
But I won't take much more of this abuse
Just change your attitude or we'll both lose
Deep inside a restless heart can begin to feel
if it is left to pine long enough
What is this strange hold you have come to take on me
that you have grown to love?
You'll never have enough

You haven't got to much to say for yourself
You act insane most of the time.  You need help
You treat me like I'm barely even there
Hard to ignore your cold indifferent stare
I ask myself just what I've done to deserve
the icy attitude you give.  I'm unnerved
It must be something from a time in my past
No solutions and I'm sinking fast.
Long ago I gazed into a lovely set of eyes
So vulnerable and so alone
Are these the same blue eyes that made my world whole?
Oh, how they've lost their glow to something so damned cold

Your mind's become a mystery
You're tearing everything right out of me
Not the least of which my heart and my soul
Can't quite remember feeling so damned low

the bass is sizzling against that piano.  and the drums work so fine... is it possible you are getting better and better?  Or maybe just so darned fine... yeah and the recording is exc!

I've just had a listen to the original as well, the drums are more prominent on this mix, I think they were a bit far back on the original. And they do sound better.

I like the overdriven piano leads - I'm guessing this is what it is. Keane have done similar on some of their tracks and I do quite like their music!

Another well-crafted piece, love that bass line !

The bassline, the arrangement. The playfulness. Very prog-esque and jazzy. It's quirky and once again PLAYFUL!

The drums sound great and fit in so well with the rest of the track.
Great music, I love that bass and I like the main vocals that are set back in the mix, good effect.
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

Very nice John.

Your songs are always entertaining and more often than not, very sophisticated.

This is as Zoltan puts it "playful". And I love it. It has some of the high qualities that some of the best supertramp songs has. (And I'm a huge Roger Hodgens fan)

Well done john

Engaging and somewhat dark lyrically against the happpy vibe of the music....pretty strong songwriting
