I wanted to nix the lead over the intro and outro and put a proper lead over the bridge section so it would sound maybe a little less disparate, but the more I listened to it, the less I wanted to futz with it. To quote ORH, it is what it is. Love the vocals in the chorus. Kudos to John.

This is huge !!

Love the contrast between the joyful guitars packing it all in and the darker almost desperate song.

And there's so much in there. The fab vocals peaking in the massive chorus. The dynamics! Love how you take it all the way down at 2:46. And the bridge works perfectly with the guitar following the vocals (or vise versa)

This is a hit in my book!!!

Pleas post the lyrics as my Viking ears had trouble getting them all.

Oh well ........

As you wish.

At night we would lay out
   Look up at the sky
At all that open darkness
   Between the lights
Now we hardly glance up
   As we make our way
From one door to the next
At the end of the day

Now we're older
Buried under
Burdened shoulders
Lost our wonder

We'd head out to the country
   Driving too fast
The last of our money
   Paid for the gas
Looking for a new road
   To end our day
Our only destination
   Was somewhere away

Now we spend our time
Watching for the end
We hoard things and money
While our life is spent
What do we have left
Once the bills are paid
Did we seize every chance
That we had to get ...

Hey we're older
Buried under
Burdened shoulders
Lost our wonder

Everything we did as kids
   Focused on the now
There was no tomorrow
   We played hard and loud
Now with elder wisdom
   To keep us straight
Are we really better
   Or just afraid

Now we're older
Buried under
Burdened shoulders
Lost our wonder

I think the lead in the start sets the mood massive chorus section is outstanding
Bravo gents

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

I will solve the riddle for 100

"What do we have left
Once the bills are paid
Did we seize every chance
That we had to get ..."

LAID!

a great tune for sure... I love it right off... but the thing I really like is after the rocking intro guitar how it melts into bass, drums, and vocals... that is something I really liked about U2...
this doesn't sound at all like them... but the idea.
you two are a great pairing... too bad more of the world doesn't know about it... they are missing out... but screw them... I am glad I get a private listening!
please send autographed photo...lol

Loving the vocal harmonies.  Your lyrics have captured some of my current life experiences.  Great rocker for "older" people.

By and large, jazz has always been like the kind of a man you wouldn't want your daughter to associate with.

Killer ....really killer....you sure you didn't have Rick Rubin over to your house while recording this because it's a stone cold hit record......or is that flaming hot ....tis a solid piece

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places
