I've had this one for a little while (since April or so), I'm finally getting around to finishing it. I added some extra overdubs and rethought the melody and words a few times over before feeling satisfied. I once again used the condensers on the acoutics though the rest (electric guitar and vocals) is mic'd with the 57/58. I used the Strymon Deco pedal extensively, even using it on my vocals this time to get some old school ADT action ;) . It feels good to get something to a finished state, I also have a few others I am going to polish up eventually as well. Enjoy....

Godin acoustic
Danelectro Jade '57 guitar
Danelectro 12 string
Epihone Viola bass
Korg digital piano
Garageband drums, organ and keys
Strymon Deco and Fender Blues Jr Amp
Shure Condenser, SM 57/58
Recorded on Garageband
Mastered in Bandlab

I get up and then fall back to bed,
Can't believe it's true
I'm egging out my head at the door
There's nothing I can do

Backs up against wall,
My hand's out to break the fall and then
Tell me how we can begin again

I lie awake to the sound of a drum,
That beats beneath,
What's there to take from the dawn of a setting sun
But disbelief?

No matter how great cost,
Can't regain the time that's lost for now
But do you know just how, without a doubt

My backs up against wall,
Hands out to break the fall and then
Just tell me how we can begin again
I know this isn't the end

Exceptional song. Totally pro vibe, assembly and performance. It's got it all! (except too short maybe?) 8)

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

DarrenG / The Devil's Toupee

Good job you got around to finishing it, brilliant song. I know what it's like to have unfinished songs lying about. It's just finding the time.
Very pro sound like hardlock said. Cool lyrics and vocals, Love the backing vocals too. Really nice melody.
The guitars are great by the way.  :)

WOW, great sound and excellent production, Keith. Those harmonies, the sweet sounding guitars and cool lyrics all make this a stellar track. Every instrument nicely placed in the mix - very professional sounding.

Absolute stunner of a song, Keith - you certainly know how to use all the tools and your talents to their best effect. Super-clean and punchy mix.

Well done, young 'un!

Like the others I find this song exceptional. It feels timeless, maybe with some roots in the late 60s.

The arrangement and performance is stellar.

A damn fine song.

I'm a fan!

Oh well ........

everything you record and mix is amazing.  To start with for me the bass work is exceptional.  I loved the bass work in the 70's bands and this has that same feel to it... even some great studio work like the bass players for some great pop artists..

The drums are perfect... the guitar work is studio musician great.. lots of interesting things but never get in the way of the voice.  Wonderful guitar work..

vocally and lyrically superior.  Another hit!

Stunner is right. This is what should be playing on my radio right now as opposed to whatever passes for top forty these days (a clouds suck, too). This has everything...the song, performance, arrangement, and production. Big wow.

Extraordinary songwriting.  Your arrangement and production are top notch.
