Time for a fun one. True story as well. It's long but I ended up sticking the leads at the end. Thanks for the listen.

Dollar Store Readers - K.J.Hill (c) 2023
-------------
Needed some readers so off to the dollar store
They have lots of sizes and styles galore
Tried all strengths that I could find
and wanted a style that fit me fine.
Magnification just make things huge
Add to that now I look like a stooge
Move too fast and start to spin
Now feeling queasy from within
-------------
Chorus*
-------------
Went to buy some readers at the dollar store
They had many strengths and styles galore
But the magnification they claim to be
Did little to benefit my ability to see
-------------
Ended up getting a bunch to take home
Figured I'd test them out where I roam
Got different ones for different things
Now have so many, I feel like a king
When I'm still blind, I stack two of a pair
Now all is clear but people sure stare
I guess that's why they have a tri-focal
Mine would be so big it couldn't be mobil
A pair on my head, that's for outdoors
one on my face for searching in drawers
I need them strong for reading things small
but try to walk around and you might take a fall
-------------
Chorus*
-------------
You tend to get an expectation
based on their magnification
Don't matter what they say they are
I still can't see near or far
But the magnification they claim to be
Did little to benefit my ability to see

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Toe tapping fun song.

I can relate to the lyrics :).

Really well crafted song with some surprising and wonderful chord changes

Oh well ........

yeah man!  Can't we all relate... my sister calls them "readers"..

I have safety glasses with bifocals that they kept in stock at work...so I have about 10 pairs (got for free over time) laying around the house in strategic locations... for this exact reason.

this reminds me of Grateful Dead Ken... it is a straight up toe tapping groovylicious soul song...

the music is solid and very clean... rocking!

you can call me anything you like.  Just don't call me late for dinner

A fun pic and a happy song. The way you're wearing the glasses almost yells: "I see you!".

Now that Stephen mentioned safety glasses the only thing i can think of is Stephen wearing vintage motorcycle glasses / goggles. Walking around the premises while wearing the guitar on his neck, ready to break into a song at any given minute, or when he sees trespassers.
And somewhere in the distance is Hardlock playing drums.

Did i mention about the bacon chips? The bag was a gift that keeps on giving! Not that i'm sharing one, but they keep on reminding me that i ate them...

Great fun song, Ken that a lot of us can relate to. Had to smile at that photo - my reading glasses keep disappearing so it's got to the stage that I have to hide them from the missus.

Thanks all! Fun to play also. Probably too long but I had to add some lead at the end. ::)

Great song and what a novel subject - reading glasses ! I'm short-sighted so unfortunately I have to pay the extortionate prices charged by opticians.

Oh My, the things some people come up with for song fodder!  Very creative indeed. ;D
Maybe you're auditioning to become the next Elton John. ;)

By and large, jazz has always been like the kind of a man you wouldn't want your daughter to associate with.

OK to cover but please let me know first.  Thanks!

Haha!

Reminds me of the the advice of my brother in law: Go to the dollar store and buy lots of readers. Distribute them throughout the house. And when you need readers, there's usually a pair nearby.

A great subject matter for us visually challenged folks, lol. A real fun song Ken and your picture cracked me up! To jump on Stephen's bandwagon; your guitar/music style does bring to mind The Grateful Dead. Nicely done!
