I guess this would be considered a "jam band" style song due to length.
Maybe rock, funk, jazz, pop, fusion?

   "Anyway, it's about TIME!
      You can't get more,
      you can't go back,
but who says you can't take up some slack!"

(Note was originally twice as long-like 2 songs combined
that switch around 2 min. -
Never could decide which section was the chorus or the verse?)
------------------------------------------------
Let's Go TIME SKIPPIN' (c) 2023 K.J.Hill
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
I don't like getting up in the morning
I don't like going to bed at night

I only like those fuzzy feelings
I get when it's dawns first light

I let it all just go to my head
don't care if I'll be late

As long as I'm still relavent
I'll gladly accept my fate
------------------------------------------------
LEAD
------------------------------------------------
Once you can free your mind
Only then can you go trippin

You got to get ahead of it
So let's go time skippin'
------------------------------------------------
section break
------------------------------------------------
   I'm going -
Time skippin'
   - will get me past the dread
Time skippin'
   - helps me clear my head
Time skippin'
   -better hear what I've said
   -you gotta just jump ahead
-----------------------------------------------
Time Skippin'
   - Got to get past it now
Time Skippin'
   - All you need to know is how
Time Skippin'
   - It's not what it's supposed to be
   - Gotta move beyond to really see
----------------------------------------------
Time skippin'
    - You too can participate
Time skippin'
   - Just don't leave it up to fate
Time skippin'
   - Gonna jump past all the dread
   -Then we'll finally get ahead
----------------------------------------------
Time skippin'
   -Some say it's just procrastation
Time skippin'
   -But really more like meditation
Time skippin'
-All you need to know is how
-For jumping past the here and now
----------------------------------------------
LEADS
----------------------------------------------
   I'm going -
Time skippin'
-Like tossing stones across a pond
Time skippin'
-A task of which you're already fond
Time skippin'
-It's something we've all done before
-Silence will let your mind soar
-----------------------------------------------
Time skippin'
-You got to get ahead of it
Time skippin'
-Otherwise you only get a bit
Time skippin'
   -Of what someone else defined
-that will leave you left behind
-----------------------------------------------
Time Skippin'
-That's where we want to be
Time Skippin'
-Only then can you really see
Time Skippin'
-It's a way to free your soul
   -Then you'll have complete control
-----------------------------------------------
   I'm going -
Time Skippin'
-Just rid your mind of any thought
Time Skippin'
-Then the journey can be taught
Time Skippin'
-Once you do then you will find
-The healing light within your mind
------------------------------------------------
Time Skippin'
   -We've all been there before
Time Skippin'
-Running late we're out the door
Time Skippin'
-Thought we had more time to play
   -Just putting off another day

Love it that repetitive time skipping is a right ear worm also loving the electric piano and blend of guitar a real smooth mix... I'm heading to do a bit of time skipping myself I was gardening but it's begun to rain so I believe it must be cellar time 😁 great track

Ken,
Glad to see you here on the site again!  Seems like it has been a while...

First off, shout out to the great lyrical content!  I can totally relate to the whole idea of this song.  I find myself literally skipping at times.. as hard as life can be there is something very sweet about it too.

The music has your stamp all over it... it's funny, it's like a signature.  Most folks on the site that I listen to have a style that is unique and yours is for sure.... It's not like there is no one else that sounds somewhat like you or the other way around but I can always tell one of your songs right off... that is pretty special

The keyboards against the cool drums are a winner here and the smooth bass rolls along very nicely.

If I were going to comp this it would be maybe toward Greatful Dead territory... jam band?  Yeah I guess that is what some call it...

cool stuff

you can call me anything you like.  Just don't call me late for dinner

I love the style, it's a real fusion of different genres. I like the funky, jazzy feel to it. The music is brilliant . Great guitars, drums, keys and lyrics. Got my foot tapping all the way through it. Love your whispering -like vocals too.
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

Nice to see you're back, Ken!

I like this; nice mix of different genres. Excellent playing and the jazzy piano sounds very tasty.

Enjoyable listening!

I think Stephen hit the nail on the head with this comparison, which is a high compliment. Could be double the length and still be "live Dead style" for sure. Quality stuff.  The keys are especially great - often in the background, but really keep the song driving by locking in with the drums + bass.

A real enjoyable listen Ken. The excellent guitar soloing fits right in with the jam band genre. Great piano, vocals and the lyrical concept is cool..."Time Skippin', Time Skippin', Time Skippin'" is embedded in my head for the rest of the day. Well done!

Thanks so much everyone. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but wasn't getting notified for some reason. Anyway, now I have a lot of catch-up listening to do as you-all are really cranking out the tunes!

Anyone think I should maybe post an instrumental version of this piece since the repeated phrase does get over-bearing?  :-\

I don't think I could compare this anything I know (that said I'm not familiar with The Greatful Dead), so to me its quite unique. I'd happily listen to more of the same though, great playing.

I don't think you overdid the repeated phrase, but an instrumental version would be interesting.
