Been riding on the range
Been riding on the trail
Been riding through the snow
Through the dark, through the frost
Through the rain through the hail
Been riding through the night
Been riding through the day
Heading for the one eyed one horse town
And it's one cell jail
An eye full of grit and a belly full of salt
An old Bowie knife and a Peacemaker Colt
When the sheriff sees me he better get ready to run
I'm coming for my son

They got him in the jail
Case closed and filed
Convicted and chained
Locked up to be hung without a trial
Now it's a personal war
I've met this sheriff before
I know how he thinks, I know how he acts
I know his style
Just as quick with a pen as a gun in his hand
Just as quick with a rope to hang an innocent man
I just wanna see him looking down the barrel of my gun
I'm coming for my son.

They say he killed a man, with his bare hands
Somewhere down in Arnhem Land

I'm coming for my son
Coming fast and fired
Blowing like a gale, hard on the trail
Every muscle hot-wired
No option or choice
I'm coming for my boy
My clothes are stuck to my back
My throat is dry and my eyes are tired
I hear the howls of the wolves in the dark
Pounding of the hooves and the wild dogs bark
No matter what they say or what they think he's done
I'm coming for my son.

what a great story and the music powers it to a determined and no doubt a triumphant ending.  There will no stopping this man from his son.  That sheriff sounds like one who needs to be gone...permanently.

great song Ray...

The bass and drums push this thing forward like a 10 horse carriage on a mission of mercy.  The pulsing rhythm guitar adds a really great edge and that ride cymbal tolling that bell sound to provide ample warning.  In a way this reminds me of a Toto track... that much detail

Another powerful song and story Ray. The opening piano and chords really set the stage for this epic tale. I dig the perceived tempo increase when the drums and bass enter. The vocals are a standout, and the slide/harmonica are the icing on the cake. Well done!

Both the music and story are compelling. I hope there is a part II. Hell, I hope this is part of your Americana concept album, which is why I was compelled to notate a potential second part with a Roman numeral.

Excellent story loving the way the music accelerates and slows with the story another masterpiece Ray

I'm pretty sure I remember this track from a while back. Great storytelling once again. Performance and mix top notch.

Wow, this is like a song from a western film. The lyrics themselves could be used as a script to a film, brilliant lyrics ray. And the music is perfect for the subject. Your songs are always amazing. And your vocals sound off the chart in this one.
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.
