So many colours between the day and the night
But me I only seem to dream in black and white
I hear the trumpets blare and I hear the bass-drums boom
Yet I still feel so lonesome in a crowded room.

Concrete and steel; fake plants and grass
Some people born to be a pain in the ass
Some people thrive on the doom and gloom
But me I feel so lonesome in a crowded room.

I'll be the first to admit I have a mean streak
Sometimes I don't think before I speak
But that's just me; from the womb to the tomb
And why I feel so lonesome in a crowded room

I've heard talk of change I've heard talk of descent
I've seen men in suits telling us all to repent
But if there's a change coming it better come soon
Or I'll be lonesome forever in this crowded room.

Great bluesy rock song, I really liked the lone beat and when the rest of the instruments comes in at around 1:20. Also great vocals, lyrics and guitar work ..  Superb ..

Oh yes.

Slide guitar, hammond and Ray's vox - that'll do me.

Dang! What a great groove. I love the laid back but still gritty feel of that slide. The harp accompaniment is perfect. I could put this on repeat and have it in the background while working and I bet my productivity would skyrocket. Great groove.

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Wow! This took my surprise! Wasn't expecting some soulful blues! Down and dirty proper blues Ray. Nice harpin'. Lyrics are always cool and some tasty slide goin' on here. Also liked the doubled vocals adding some punch.

I dig 'dem blues Ray! Great words and vocals. The blues harp and the slide put it over the top for me. It's like listening to a long lost but refined Yardbirds tune...I'm listening again!

Yet another great side of Ray Brookes.  Quite different but shows how versatile you are.

By and large, jazz has always been like the kind of a man you wouldn't want your daughter to associate with.
