T.C. Elliott

Here is a recent cover I did for the PRF Tribute Series. I have to admit that I wasn't the biggest fan but when trying to find a song to cover I was impressed by the quality of his songwriting and his whole career, really. I remember hearing him at home with my mother and also at my father's house when I would go visit him. RIP Gordon.

I can see her lying back in her satin dress
In a room where you do what you don't confess

Sundown, you better take care
If I find you been creeping 'round my back stairs
Sundown, you better take care
If I find you been creeping 'round my back stairs

She's been looking like a queen in a sailor's dream
And she don't always say what she really means

Sometimes I think it's a shame
When I get feeling better, when I'm feeling no pain
Sometimes I think it's a shame
When I get feeling better, when I'm feeling no pain

I can picture every move that a man could make
Getting lost in her loving is your first mistake

Sundown, you better take care
If I find you been creeping 'round my back stairs
Sometimes I think it's a sin
When I feel like I'm winning, when I'm losing again

I can see her looking fast in her faded jeans
She's a hard-loving woman, got me feeling mean

Sometimes I think it's a shame
When I get feeling better, when I'm feeling no pain
Sundown, you better take care
If I find you been creeping 'round my back stairs
Sundown, you better take care
If I find you been creeping 'round my back stairs
Sometimes I think it's a sin
When I feel like I'm winning, when I'm losing again

T.C. this works well in this rockin' style. Great vocal work at staying with the tempo in this rapid-fire lyric style. The guitar tone is real cool and the solo is outrageously good! A quick story: when I was in my teens, I was given some scratched up 45 records and one of the lessor scratched ones was Sundown by Gordon Lightfoot. It was the first time I had heard this song, which wasn't my preferred style, but I listened to it many times. To this day I still sing along in my car when it pops up on the classic rock station. Well done on the song T.C.!

This is great! :) The sound of glorious 90's era pop punk - skatepunk. Does this count as post-punk as it's clearly housebroken? I dunno, but the only thing missing here is snot, and i applaud your for that! Some of us have to shower too...

I can see Gordon Lightfood riding up the sky while this song plays in the background.

Wicked version TC! Gordon was a national treasure here, may he rest in peace, and this is a lovely punk adaption. Great energy!

Great stuff TC. He's an artist i didn't know much about and I listened to a little bit of him the other day. It was pretty mellow really, but you have injected some proper life into this one and it sounds brilliant.
