I had an hour or so this evening as the wife had a friend over I disappeared down the cellar and started to think about my old man he's been gone now twenty one years and how in his old age when I used to go and see him I'd find him sitting pondering in front of the window in the lounge smoking a roll up....
Father sits by the window in an old tattered chair
Smoking roll ups in quiet despair
Pondering on that life that he's had
Working hard to stand still
bringing up the kids
Looking after everyone
Apart from him
Watching the rain as it falls
Watching that bloody. rain as it falls

He sits he dreams of winning the lottery
To escape his life of monotony
Looking out at that same old scenery
Where nothing every seems to have changed for a century
Remembering Working hard to stand still bringing up the kids
Looking after everyone
Apart from him
Watching the rain as it falls
Watching that bloody rain as it falls

Another day turns around on him again
He finds himself sitting just the same
Watching those grey clouds come over the horizon
Remembering Working hard to stand still bringing up the kids
Looking after everyone
Apart from him
Watching the rain as it falls
Watching that bloody rain as it falls

Remembering Working hard to stand still bringing up the kids
Looking after everyone
Apart from him
Watching the rain as it falls
Watching that bloody. rain as it falls
Watching the rain as it falls
Watching that bloody. rain as it falls
Watching that bloody rain as it falls

Beautiful Trev. Stark but beautiful.

I sometimes wonder what my kids would remember about me.  Then again, maybe it's best not to go there.

And I'm also mighty impressed that you can produce a song like this in a couple of hours.  My elapsed time is always measured in days, often weeks and sometimes months.

Trev,
this is such lyrical perfection.  To tell a story like this really has major impact for me.  I totally think it is wonderful.  When I was "courting" the girl that became my first wife (I was 17 then) I would go to their farm house and old Ben, the grandfather, a quiet man, would sit in a chair near the fire.  He always had his bible on his lap open.  He hardly said a word.  I think he had a lot of wisdom.  It was a beautiful family.  Simple and hard working.

there is power in that.  It ain't glamorous though.  I am so glad you have these memories and can share them with us.  It is special.
Musically this is typically good to great Two Regs.  Lyrically it is way up there .....

Full of melancholy and that feeling of a wasted life.
Gazing at the rain enhances that depressed feeling.
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

Your guitar and voice has invaded my speakers. It's such a wide stereo recording that i almost felt like looking behind the speakers.

Those vocals are bordering on theatrical. There's nothing subtle in this recording. I did expect something like Raining Blood (by the Slayer) based on the title ;) But this one is powerful too!

Yes, I love this spectacular creation! Wicked guitar strum and great vocals. The lyrics and performance are deep and a little sad but that is what makes a memorable and outstanding number.

Well done!
