Got another one off the iPad...I wanted to write/record a mainly acoustic fingerstyle song and really test out my new USB condenser mic (Sure MV51)....that was the initial idea....along the way I added some more stuff...and a wee guitar solo at the end...Keith helped out with excellent bass and additional keys.......for your listening pleasure

Thoughts Like Clouds
written/performed/recorded by Dave Berry, with some assistance from Keith Berry
Dave: vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar (Keith's new Danelectro '57), GB drums and keys (melotron, organ, synth)
Keith: Denver Uke bass (new), Fender Jazz Bass, keys via Korg EPiano (harpsicord, vibraphone, harmonium)
recorded on an iPad into Garageband via new Sure USB interfaces, mastered in Bandlab
Dreaming thoughts, I'm orchestrating till dawn
Feeling bygone, I'm good at arriving
I've been blinded by the dark so many times
and meantime, I am surving

What you do, day by day
You'll become, so they say
Watch yourself and you will see
Day by day you'll be free

Thoughts like clouds, come and go in a windy sky
I won't comply, and watch them diminish
Better days, a rainbow after the storm
Bloody and worn, I'm not yet finished

Chorus

When the world shakes us in our bed
The morning star will desecrate the dread
And sometimes the silence sings as loud as thunder
Reaching those who have stopped to wonder

Chorus

wow Dave... the whole song and instrumentation is really amazing.

but the vocals, lyrics, and the finger picked guitar really stand out for me... all the rest adds the fluffy white clouds so to say...

really cool effect on the voice as well..

I can hear where Keith gets it from...  and the lead is spectacular... wow

Great composition, Dave. I was trying to follow the chords in my head but got lost after a few bars. Cool arrangement and mixing and a mighty-fine contribution from the younger Berry. Nice guitar work too, Dave.

Well done to you both - great work.

these lyrics really got me!  some fantastic writing!  This is absolutely a stellar song all the way through.

interesting that there is a Rush or Triumph like feel to the breakdown at the end... very satisfying...

This is some very cool songwriting Bluesberry (Dave)! Great acoustic guitar picking and vocals/lyrics. The outro lead solo tops it off nicely, like icing on the cake. I think your new Shure MV51 is a winner. Well done to both Berrys!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

DarrenG / The Devil's Toupee

This sounds amazing. I really love the sound of the mellotron organ and the dreamy synths and the acoustic guitar in the first half, really well played. Then the tempo ups in the second half. Then it really rocks, this kicks ass.
Some fine lead guitar playing and bass. Really good music all round and love the vocals and lyrics.
Definite comparisons to other artists as others have said.
A real talented family.  :)

That mic works fine and some nice picking too... the berry collective has done a cracking job on this from the vocal to the bass drum that leads not too shabby either just the ride that what is needed this grey cold morning in Yorkshire.... Now I'm off to feed the sheep with a bounce to my step

Berries and cream!! Well done, great tune. Cuth beat me to it, you are the master of prog and Keith lends to it so well, especially the bass & keyboard parts.

And the soloing, a 'ting of beauty I love it!!
