Wilko was great... I got to see him a couple of times. He had a unique sound, a great sound.

Awful. Wilko was a big part of my life in the 90's, I saw his band going on 20 times. His music and attitude were important to me.

I'm going to miss you, Wilko.

When he diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2013,  I did this tribute.

When I'm Gone - Wilko Johnson cover
Overdrive - Distortion - Hyperactivity
Yesterdays shatter, tomorrows don't matter

I barely know who he is. I've seen one or two videos with him pacing back and forth, but never really knew his name or what he was all about.

Such as this one:

Folks in the UK seem to regard him as one of the godfathers of punk, on par with Iggy Pop. Americans, on the other hand, like to think of the progenitors of punk were all Americans – Iggy, Velvet Underground, etc.

His death is prompting me to backfill my understanding of what he contributed to the music that has influenced me. I looked for a guitar tutorial for "She Does It Right" and found a tutorial from the man himself:

Dr feelgood were never on my radar, although I may have seen them at uni when I used to see bands in the students union. Always sad to loose another fellow musician. Rip wilko
