oh my goodness... having had the priv of reading the lyrics before I heard this i was not ready for this...
this is so dang good...I love it! 

I think this is a smash hit...and funny too... the mix and the bass is so Billy Idol but the vocals are on the level of "Don't You Forget About Me" good from the Simple Minds.

this is a merger of many great musical influences but it is produced by some one that is pro...or at least this makes my speakers bounce and the mix is great...that weird almost kazoo thing is making me laugh ...

here is my interpretation of the lyrics based also on inside info:
So the promoter is maybe somewhat worried about politics but not really.  What they want is some big PR to make the event bigger and more profitable.  But they cover their behinds by telling the agent to tell the artist not to sing about politics, so they have someone to blame if it goes south.
Controlling spin is a big thing.
The audience would be mixed.  Some would love it and some would hate it (see Ted Nugent fans, or former fans, see Pat Benatar fans, or former fans etc.)
The agent makes a smart move to not tell him to sing it... but he also has to take crap from the artist about the mixing sound dudes (probably not his fault at all)...

also the very end made me laugh even more...

That sound you've got going on there sounds like a kazoo.

So it's not just me thinking that those sounds like kazoos. Are they?

What is the true story this is based on. (I'm not too interested in the dick parts, unless they are absolutely crucial to the story.)

It's a little reminiscent of this old tune by Greeny (where he sings about politics).
