Brand new.  Enjoy!

You stand before me whispering your heart's desire
Your eyes are glowing with promises
of this love you'll give me only
But your eyes cannot hold back certain facts that are well known
You've been making such promises
to so many others times before
What motivates you? How many men have you deceived?
How many others fell to your web of deception
you have made so hard to ignore?

(Chorus)
Don't want your precious lies
or any other distractions
you might throw my way
Don't want your pretty eyes
misguiding me to promises you'll never keep
Silently you'll leave

You say you know me
All the things that bring me joy
Everything I can dream of
Then you should know my heart is no toy
You've a reputation
Careless with your promises
making hundreds of times before
vulnerable men broken-hearted fools.
How can your conscience let you go on and on misleading?
Is there a small part of your soul
that tells you that it's wrong to to be so cruel?  You must know.

(Repeat Chorus)

I can't ignore it.  I clearly see
So tempting.  Let yourself go.  Let her be your dream come true
Just one night can you pretend she is saintly
No doubt she is all I cannot fall for.

(Repeat Chorus)

OK to cover but please let me know first.  Thanks!

Everything works well here. I like the composition and you have fine ideas on arrangement...stopping drums, adding strings etc...little things which give tasty flavor to your song.

Enjoyable listening, as always! I'm a fan!

Always class from you, John. Captivating melodies and love those 'free-range' bass lines. Great arranging/production; everything here tastefully presented.

Well structured composition and melodic vocal line. Nice one.

This sooo stylish John.  And what a unique style you have too.  Cool piano lines going on and the bass is adventurous too.  I do love a bit of spiccato strings as well.

A very cool vocal line as usual.

Love it.

powerful story about the all too familiar types that show up once in a while... yeah.. hope it isn't too much a story that is real in your life...

wonderful tapestry of sounds, weaving around that bass and percussion that pins it together... meanwhile the strings and winds doing their lovely dance around the fire of the vocal lines, that actually defy the lyrical content... almost like the singer wants to go for it with the subject...but that voice of wisdom coming through stronger, and avoiding the temptation... that isn't of course good for the singer... and so this is a song of victory really...victory in avoiding that common snare!  well done John

Incredible chord progression - bass in pocket throughout!  I could never find a melody line like you have with your very distinctive vocal.

I am picturing vocal backup singers in places.

Great composition and performance.
