Another one by ASIAM team. The lyric is from Michael, music by Tim, I added just some arrangement and the spoken part at the end ... I had this idea to sing some latin because of the title of course, but also because tim managed to make the melody sound very ancient, so 'roman empire', whatever this can mean ...

The Gladius

E                         Dsus4          A7
I found a gladius,         in a cave
It seemed to mark,       an ancient grave
Like a headstone it staked, an unconquered desire
         G              D                       A7
For here lies a soldier from the Roman Empire
         C                   D                    E
Gladius, gladius, gladius

The beauty there beyond the cave
Overlooking the crashing waves
It seems to speak, for why he fought
For land and treasures relentless sought
Gladius,          gladius,             gladius

G                     D                       C
What was he reason why this soldier fell
Maybe the story only the bones could tell
But i shall not disturb him as he rests
           E                         Dsus4          A7
May peace be with him,      and wars be less

E                         Dsus4          A7
I found a gladius,         in a cave
It seemed to mark,       a ancient grave
E

gladius in spelunca
manet sicut cippum
memento tacitam cupiditatem
quia hic iacet miles ab imperio romano

pulchritudo ultra antrum
despiciens fractionis fluctus
loqui quare pugnavimus:
terra enim et thesauri
sine intermissione quesiti

la belleza fuera della cueva
frente a las olas rompiendo

est le raison de notre combat

ist der grundt fur unzeren kampf

quia hic miles iacet ab imperio romano

(lol I lost the original lyrics, here's just what I think I'm saying! )

I like everything about this song! The wonderful sounding acoustic guitar, the mellow lead vocal and the lyrics/story held my interest to the end. The narration in Latin is a cool way to ease the song out. Well done to all involved!

Wonderful topic for a song! You don't hear too many folk rock songs about ancient Rome. Excellent lyrics, great vocals from Tim and the Latin at the end is a real treat!

Top class backer and fine lyrics. The keyboard sounds so sweet on this...

Just amazing job by all of you and spoken words in Latin gives a good flavor to this.

Love it. Such a great story... there is a load of power in those lyrics and that gentle backing just pulls the whole thing along in such a gentle but powerful way too. Great middle section too.

Hi maxit,
Your storytelling created an imagery in my mind, and brought me back in your ancient setting.
This song transported me, and I am enjoying the journey.
Very nice Collab Work!
