Did this over the last few days, lots going on but I think it still has a minimalist quality...maybe.
Drums, piano & strings are Garageband, Bass & Muted Trumpet are Thumbjam. Uke is my Kala Tenor Archtop. All done on the BR80 in the car and at the dinning room table.
1 uke (stereo)
2 drums (stereo)
2 bass
3 lead vocals (stereo)
1 piano (stereo)
1 strings section (stereo)
1 muted trumpet
Weren't Perfect
written & performed by Hook
Lost inside my mind as the sun sets
Hoping this is a moment that I won't forget
But it slipped away into a faded memory

As I turn back all my pages
I wish I had erasures
If only I could edit the script
Replay all my scenes
And perhaps just delete a few lines
that weren't perfect

Tender moments full of innocence and joy
Captured forever in pixelated celluloid
Immediately lost in this vacuumous void

Memorables and keep stakes
All our monumentous mistakes
Continue to haunt us our entire lives

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

monumental song imo...

speaks to the regrets and the joys we all experience.... there are moments of space in the music but overall it has a very classical like busy feel... I like it!
swirly, churning, chimey goodness....

and really nice vocals...

Very airy feel, and the full orchestration adds on to the beauty.
Love this recording.

The first thing I did was read the lyrics which are great and reflective with hints of nostalgia and regret. Then I listened to the song itself which is captivating and so well arranged. Nice orchestration with those strings and nice laid-back vocals.

This starts off with a feel-good vibe but turns to a deeper side of regret as the vocals/lyrics enter. A sort of ebb and tide counter of one another, which works beautifully. The Thumbjam bass sounds like an upright bass. Excellent work Hook!
