I had the simple riff that kept repeating, but I couldn't flesh it out into anything interesting. I finally changed the drums from jazzy to a bluesy shuffle, and things started to come together...into what I have no idea. Still might tinker with the arrangement, or I may press into a record that I can throw up in the air and shoot.

Kudos to John for not rolling his eyes at me too often.

Another Day in Hell

Early Tuesday
Woke up all alone
You were gone
Left me an empty home

I hope you're happy
I hope you are well
Everyday you're gone
Is another day in Hell

Late on Wednesday
Finished all the beer
Done nothing but drink
Since you ain't been here

Midday Friday
Staring at the phone
Can't You hear me calling
Can't hear me moan

Without you in my life
I'm just an empty shell
Everyday you're gone
is another day in Hell

Saturday
Can't get out of bed
Without you near
May as well be dead

Early Sunday morning
Drag myself to church
Pray away the emptiness
Pray away the hurt

Trying to get over you
Waiting for time to tell
Everyday you're gone
Is another day in Hell

I like the live feel of this. Some tasty riffiage going on there Bruce. Nice in your face mix. I thought the bass was a little hot . I should have another listen on my headphones. Nice little fake out ending   Vocals we're really tight too.

What I love the most on this is the bass.  It's big and bold and proud.  It's got swagger!  It's like a big ole alley cat thats been roughed up in a fight.  But the cat knows that it's wounds are much less than the ones he inflicted.  This is my kind of trash right here.
dig the vocals and the lyrics too.

I bow to your masterful talents. Those rifs, licks, leads, and vocal styling - down and dirty blues shuffle hit me right at home! Not the theme as much as the musical vibe. Don't kick this one to the curb, sounds like a live version of the winner to me! 8)

It's funny how a small change can make a huge difference. There's still a touch of jazzy flair to this one. The vocal performance reflects the lyrics perfectly. Going from slightly drowsy to pissed off. The bassline is cool, the guitar is happening and the drums alternate between taking the center stage and being pulled back into the shadows. The song benefits greatly from a very musical arrangement. Great song!
