I've had this as an idea for a while but didn't start recording until about a month ago. The lyrics came out fairly quickly, which I was grateful for. I wanted to give this track a more "end track of an album" vibe so I added the little outros. The noise you hear at the end is a 3 year old recording I made of the Pulp Mill, which as happens to be close by a lot of greenery (hence all the nature sounds along with it), by where I live which was making a weird sort of sound that day. I did a lot of tracks for this one ;), hope you enjoy...

Two Godin acoustics
Epiphone Viola Bass
Danelectro 12 String
Gibson Les Paul (for lead during first 3 minutes, rhythm for the last parts)
Fender Stratocaster (lead after that)
Epiphone Sheraton (in there somewhere, for bit parts)
Korg Piano
Garage Band Organ and Drums
Roland SH 201 (for outro)
Mellotron App
Shure SM 58
Fender Blues Junior
Mixed/recorded on BR1200

We've done all that we can do
Just give me an answer
All these weeks I've walked straight through,
Sorting out the reasons to find out how

Got no commitments though I stand
In between the barriers
It's not so much do what you can
Give your peace of mind to feel it it now

Something to decide

(Chorus Pt. 1)
Either way that you run from me
There's not a chance of an open door
Find out what you're looking for for forgiveness

I've seen sights beyond the line
Splitting at broken seams,
See the people going by,
Leaving just a virtue, a memories dream

And see the tumbling waves outside
Watching all through stained glass
It's never felt for those that hide
Leaving all behind, to float downstream

Nothing left to hide

(Chorus Pt. 1)

(Chorus Pt. 2)
And to understand thoughtlessly
Could be more than a passing word
See light from a different world
Think it over

If you give life to yourself
To see the times that you're in
to about what gives out
So we can start to begin

And I don't see the signs
When all that's taken is blind
You feel yourself defined
By all that's taken from mine
Give it some time

(Chorus repeated in full again)

Think it over
think it over now

This is top-notch in every way, Keith. Excellent vocals, the guitars sound perfect, and the modulations and the way the different parts are woven together are so tastefully done.

Fine, fine stuff - beautifully done!

This sounds excellent. The vocals have a touch of the Dave Grohl when you push it (~3mins).
This is a top notch tune and recording.

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

I dig it. It has an old rock/pop feel to it. This is very well crafted and produced. I like how you blended it together near the end.  Terrific job.

An absolute f*cking epic! The writing, performance and production are complete class. Loving that chord change that goes into the choruses - and the majestic, rising choruses themselves. The switch to heavier guitar works beautifully too. Soaring stuff! Little elements of The Beatles and Foo Fighters, but all yours. An instant Songcrafter classic if I may be so bold.

Bluesberry

WOW.....masterclass in how to write, perform, record and mix down a song.....Songcrafters classic indeed....those choruses soar, especially the last one coming from the heavier "bridge" section....it soars mightily.....makes me want to jump up and down....and really who jumps up and down at my age...lol...might hurt my sore hips....damn fine songcrafting Keith....you just keep getting better and better....and what vocals....it's ready for radio

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

I can only agree with the other posts..it's a fantastic song. It has that sound that makes it stand out. Its really catchy, the guitars are fab and your lyrics and vocals are perfect. Very professional sound and recording. Loved it from start to finish.
