Nice video clip Nick. Still get that same feeling of excitement when I hear the Stranglers even after all these years.Oddly enough I had to go to Newport on the Cardiff train on 8th March. If I'd known I could have gone down the night before, stayed over, and watched them !

I started off my spring break by seeing Joe Satriani in Orlando, FL (about 2 hours south of me). Almost fell asleep on the drive down, but I miraculously got a second wind and muddled through. No big review here except to say I have filled my note quota for the next few months. He played flawlessly it seemed, and the sound was good. I was intrigued to see this tour as he stacked the deck with monster musicians. He had Mike Keneally of Zappa fame on keys and guitar, Marco Minnemann on drums, and Bryan Beller on bass. The latter two are the rhythm section for The Aristocrats although I followed them long before they formed that band with Guthrie Govan. They mostly stuck to the album script , but there were plenty of moments where everybody got a chance to shine. Mostly, I was happy to see his success. Even if he's not your cup of tea, you have to appreciate an instrumental musician filling a 5,000 seat arena. I remember seeing him in a club on the beach the first time he came to Florida in 1988. He had a much larger production (lights, projection screens) than I would expect from an instrumentalist as well.

Saw Bellowhead again last night at the Royal and Derngate in Northampton.  Brilliant two hour set but sadly it is a farewell tour.

I first saw the two founder members in a school hall in Rugby about ten years or so ago playing to about 30 people.   I last time I saw Bellowhead was playing to a packed Royal Albert Hall.

Great gig if you like English Folk played in a non trad manner by an 11 piece band.

Flash Harry

I went to see the Dixie chicks last night at the Manchester MEN Arena and haven't come across such an enthusiastic crowd in a long time. I hadn't heard anything by them before going but the wife said they were good so i agreed to go with her and i was surprised, not your normal country & western show huge psychedelic  projections, loud guitars thumping drums driving bass the full monty. It was an excellent show , i'm now a fan? an excellent version of Motorhead the Ace of spades done in a hillbilly style and an excellent tribute to Prince "no one compares to you" an excellent acoustic set and excellent show i throughly enjoyed..Heres a few youtube videos to give you the flavour of the night one from Manchester and the other from Amsterdam

Was at Springsteen yesterday in Croke Park Dublin. Was never a major Springsteen fan, not really familiar with his stuff outside of the hits everyone knows. But I have to say he puts on one hell of a gig. A great performer and a true pro, but most of all he looks like he enjoys it so much himself, certainly not going through the motions. Yeah, have to say he really rocked. Found a clip on Youtube of the gig I was at (didn't bring a camera), the part where he brings a little lad out of the crowd up on stage to sing...
