Need help Taylor lament

The rev and Paul did a musical piece that later had different lyrics sang to it. I would like to do the cover for this song but not sure who wrote the lyrics OHR or Reg I think.
Some of the words are
Maybe there's a better way a different way at seeing things
I would like to ask permission to cover but not sure who to ask
Any ideals would be appreciated
