My son-in-law Guillaume came on vacation for a few days with his new toy

a 10 string pedal steel guitar...

I hope we will be able to record some songs with it :(

That is a beautiful looking instrument, JP. The pedal steel guitar has always fascinated me and the sound is enthralling. Looking forward to hearing you play it.

thank you guy's

a good news:  I was able to recover 80% of my software and plug ins after the wreck of my computer

...so tomorrow (the weather forecast is very bad), Cécile, my daughter Guillaume, my son-in-law and I , are going to make a piece (not too difficult) with the pedal steel

Mach..no it is a WBS (a german custom made)  https://www.wbssteelguitars.com/index.php?page=home&lan=DE

Yes Ray it is really a fascinating instrument from a harmonic and melodic point of view...but much more difficult to master than I thought

What a beautiful instrument. And I'm sure it will sound beautiful too.

Fun fact: When I was 21-ish I met an American pedal-steel guitarist who had been to Africa looking for new sounds. He inspired me to think seriously about visiting Africa. He's one of the reasons I'm in Madagascar today.

Quote from: https://bit.ly/3yt5hFbBut back in 1985, Africa still seemed pretty intimidating to a 20-something with no passport, raised in the unworldly suburbs of Phoenix. Then I met someone who had done it. A pedal steel guitarist named Glenn Taylor ran an ad in a local arts weekly paper looking for musicians interested in exploring African music.

Glenn had already made two trips to Zimbabwe as musical pilgrim. He not only had lived to tell about it, he had a huge library of cassette tapes from Africa. He curated songs from these tapes into mixtapes that he pushed into the hands anyone who showed an interest.
