I have to wonder why
you wouldn't appropriate every culture you could

I want to be inspired, influenced & maybe even changed
& if I'm moved to imitate, why would that be so strange
I always thought a melting pot was what we were supposed to be
but it seems more like an ice tray to me

Elvis heard the blues & he became the King
The Beatles heard Chuck Berry & that was really good thing
The Police took Reggae & made it their own
Hall & Oates were singing Philly Soul before their Pop became Rock & Roll

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

Amen to that.

And there's some different styles in play in your arrangement of this, too. Plenty to hold your interest. I hope things are looking up soon, post-vacation.

Appropriate on!

Good catch, Stephen. I've moved it to the Originals board.

Wow! There's an artist called John Grant (an American who lives in Iceland), and the start of this could have been him. Flash and I are great fans of his.

Feels like a departure for you, stylistically. It's very European. And very, very interesting. I love the squelchy bass, and the main melodic refrain is superb. So atmospheric. Those overlapping vocals at the end are very clever indeed.

Killer track.

cool sound, and lyrics make you brain start wondering. Great song and really has a lot of styles in, and is very unique too ...

This is an inspired song, Hook.  The bass sound is to die for, and the vocal just makes it so catchy whilst still remaining left-field.  I love it.

A very different style (in a good way) from you, Hook. It's spatial and atmospheric. I dig the lyric and vocals. Specifically the overlapping lines and the way you develop the melody. The harmony guitar riffs are so cool and give a grounding point for the song. Well done! I hope the van repair doesn't cost you an arm and a leg.

Nice cool laid back track and love those guitars. I like the atmospheric feel of the production - nothing going over the top or getting in the way. Great work.
