don't want that last happy song to fool you. Baritone Uke through Amplitude app(irig pickup), new behringer SB 78A condenser mic (it's awesome and cheap!($40), Drums are garageband as well as the piano and string section. The trumpet is Thumbjam and bass is my A/E.

A Casual Thought Away From Tears
written & performed by Hook
I was told that it would get easier
I was told the pain would fade
it might take a while and it's been awhile
it hurts worse every day

I don't get excited
about the dawn of a new day
without you here it's never clear
this rain cloud won't go away

It Follows me
Everywhere
Always just a casual thought away from tears

Now I'm not just full of sadness
there's some anger in there too
And when I'm alone the things I say
I wouldn't say them to you

But it's hard to watch my tongue
when I'm alone all the time
Reenacting scenes primal screams
I wish I could take back mine

But they follow me
everywhere
always just a casual thought away from tears

Too travel back
To change the past
Will it work
will it last

This arrangement is a great one. I'm loving the trumpet. It works so well. And the downward step to the chord progression sounds really good under your melody. You've hit upon a good one with this one.

Nice song and very nicely produced and arranged. I like how the active bass lines counteract the slow vocal delivery and love that muted trumpet.

I love your slow singing style on this...it really makes me lock into the vocals and listen intently.... the bass sounds great as well.....you've used a fairly common progression but I didn't really notice because the vocals draw me in so close....that ending...wow... you are a fantastic entertainer...another good Hook!

Fine production. Dig how the instrumentation doesn't "collide" with each other and stays defined even though not via hard stereo positioning.  A beautiful piece all around.

What a great song. I agree with the other comments, really stunning arrangement. They all work great together, and the trumpet is nice, lovely lyrics and vocals. That microphone sounds excellent too.   Darren

I can feel the pain in this, it's a really heavy atmosphere but a compelling listen. I think the Trumpet is a brilliant addition... you've used it perfectly. Really piercing. Great tune Hook.
