I actually really like the guitar hero and rockband games... But I've made it a point to stay away from them. The time needed to be good on it, could be time spent play REAL guitar and getting better at that. At least that's what I tell myself...

I agree.  But the wannabe drummer in me loves to play those drums--and I think it's a legit learning tool for drums.  A 13-year-old friend of my stepson came over recently and played my digital drums (Yamaha DD-55) quite well.  I asked him where he learned to play, and he responded, "Rock Band."
