The first Sabbath album, Black Sabbath - as it still sounds great after all these years and the ASIA debut

Another couple of first two albums would be Big Country... "The Crossing" and "Steeltown". I absolutely loved the song "In a Big Country" when it came out and I remember playing these two albums to death as a kid on cassette, often while doing my homework!

So original... sadly Stuart Adamson ironically would be tortured by the music press pigeonholing them as a one trick pony with their music sounding very samey. So unfair and untrue... how difficult is it to come up with just one original sound, never mind having to try and reinvent yourself every album because of the reviews of a few tossers that know feck all about music. Super band.

For a Canadian band, I would say:

Tragically Hip

"1989 - Up to Here" (featuring "New Orleans is Sinking" (before it actually did))

and "1991 - Road Apples" (featuring "Little Bones")

If you went to a party anywhere in Ontario from the early 90's all the way to now and didn't hear one of those two songs playing, then you either weren't paying attention, or you drank too many Molson's. :)

Not to mention they followed these two albums up with "Fully Completely" (featuring "Courage") in 1992 and just totally blew everyone's mind.

I'm a fan,,,,of Tragically Hip...big fan actually... they were great... I still listen to them alot and have been watching them live on videos...I never would have guessed that Gord looked like that... an amazing story teller and singer... I am a bit older so that era of bands was kind of the last ones for me that I paid much attention to...  I think Canada had fantastic bands.... April Wine, Saga, Triumph, BTO, Iron Horse, Guess Who...of course Rush...  and I am sure I am foregetting some...Neil Young is Canadian right?
