Ok I have seen a lot of you post pics up here. Along with your songs. How do yo do it? Tried today and all I could post was the song.  Must be some trick the cp illiterate doesn't know. LOL  If I ever get the song mastered  and the pics up you will see the story and place I have been working on. Thanks ahead

there's a little 'picture' icon () above the emoticons when you have a reply box up (not the quick reply one though...). Click on it, and it will insert this...

[img][/img]

What you need to do next is find a picture on the web that you want to display. Then right click on it and go down to 'properties' (usually at the bottom). Highlight and copy the web address - e.g. http://tbn2.google.com/images?q=tbn:JaluFKLEJmjOEM:http://tghguild.net/blogger/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/lgtsa951whaam-b-roy-lichtenstein-art-print.jpg

Then paste that address between [img] and [/img]

Voila!

Or, just attach a picture from your pc in the same way you'd attach an mp3!

Hmmm - want to try it - and I have absolutely no excuse!! Trying the attached file way first:

Seems kind of redundant - is there any way to put the picture in, using only this site, without having the attachment at the bottom?

No. The file has to be stored somewhere. If you want to store it at BossBR.net, the only way is as an attachment. But you're right that it's redundant to also include a link to the attached picture. And it's unnecessary -- readers can view the attachment full-size simply by clicking on it. So, you might want to add a note to your message saying "Click on picture below to view full-size", rather than linking to it with the [url] [/url] tags.

When linking to large pictures stored offsite, a useful trick is to specify width and/or height parameters to make the picture much smaller, then surround it with [url] tags to make it an active link to the full-size picture.

For example, suppose I have the following picture in my message:

[img]http://www.roland.com/products/en/MICRO_BR/images/image_02_L.jpg[/img]

This is a very large picture. Much too big to put in a message. I can shrink it by adding a width parameter, like this:

[img width=200]http://www.roland.com/products/en/MICRO_BR/images/image_02_L.jpg[/img]

This sets the width to 200 pixels. I can now make it an active link to the full-size picture by adding the [url=] [/url] tags, like this:

[url=http://www.roland.com/products/en/MICRO_BR/images/image_02_L.jpg][img width=200]http://www.roland.com/products/en/MICRO_BR/images/image_02_L.jpg[/img][/url]

Finally, I like to centre the picture and add the italicized text "Click to view fullsize" below it.

[center][url=http://www.roland.com/products/en/MICRO_BR/images/image_02_L.jpg][img width=200 height=122]http://www.roland.com/products/en/MICRO_BR/images/image_02_L.jpg[/img][/url]
[i](Click to view fullsize)[/i]
[/center]

The result looks like this:

Thanks 64Guitars for getting in depth with this - I'm certain other people wanted to know but didn't bother to ask.

I guess what I didn't realize is the buttons are preset tag parameters - the auto mp3 format happened just before I joined, so I didn't really have to learn anything to make a post and type a couple paragraphs. So, it's basically tag based scripting no different than interchange or the like.

I have no problem just using the attachment feature - I do anyway. Just thought it was cool when I saw people putting pics inside the message.

Thanks,

Mark

Ok I understand you can attach just like an mp3, but when I looked it was either or.  So how do they put the song, pic and text all at the same time.  I guess I am kind of slow also.    It would mean more than one attachment.  And when I looked I thought you could only attach one  Ok I reread Greeny's post and I think I might get it.  Will see when I get the song mastered if it works. LOL Thanks a lot guys.

In the "Post your MP3" and "Collaborations" boards, you can only attach an MP3 (I know. I don't like it either). But in the other boards, you can post up to 3 attachments per message of any type. So, if you wanted to post pictures of your lake, for example, you could post them in General Discussion as attachments.

Alternatively, you can upload your pictures elsewhere on the web (for example, flickr or photobucket) and merely link to them as Greeny and I have suggested. That way, you can include the pictures in any board since they're not attachments. So you can post an MP3, for example, and include some pictures in the same message. With Firefox, you can get the URL of any picture on the web by right-clicking on it and selecting "Copy Image Location" from the context menu.
