I'm still confused about why some messages have names against them and some just numbers. And my messages don;t show either, so I have no idea how they appear to other people in the group. But then I am old......

So open up the app.
Select settings (three dots top right on android app, select settings)
click on the icon/title on this page
You will see the name, you can edit and then save.
