I have submitted my first go at lesson 1. Mike, I know you'll feel the urge to be kind and considerate with your response, but feel free to be open, honest, and most importantly direct. It is difficult to display the level of gratitude I feel, Thanks so much Mike!

Oh impudent don't worry 48 is the best.  Even if you spout back at him.  YOu know being female and all LOL. He has a heart of gold.  The thing I like about his lessons is you don't need to learn the names of notes. etc.  Like most guitar teachers.  I don't want to know that I just want to know how to play well enough to suit me.  And I am slowly getting there.  YOu just hang in there. Can't wait to hear from his newest students.

I'm on to lesson 2! I got encouraging words from 48, realized that I'm my own worst critic again, and feel ready to move on! I'm looking forward to the day where I feel that my work is worthy of posting. I think that when the day comes, I will post 4 - 5 MP3's basically showing progress from beginning to end.

Wiley -
good point about not worrying about the names of the notes. I'm not sure I'd want to pass this as good advice or not, but I have only worked on memorizing the names of the notes on the E and A string. My train of thought is simply this, those 2 strings contain the root note of everything I play. After that, scales are repetitive. Once the shape of the scale or chord is learned. the only thing that matters is the root note.

Keep in mind this is theory is based on 3 months of experience, and can change as I advance.

You guys make me laugh ;D...you still don't get it..You Have already been bitten....Once you hit those sweet blues notes you'll never stop Listening and learning........
Everytime I pick up my guitar I swear I'm going to do something different but those blues just don't let you go..but on the bright side If you listen hard enough you can hear the Blues in everything!

God I love the Blues!
You have got no soul if this doesn't stir something inside

Good one Mike, that is good blues for sure.  The guy who stirs my soul the most is Rory Gallagher.
