Hi dudes and  adudettes ,
Most people that know me know  my love for Michael kelly guitars.
I saw an opportunity on line that a model that is no longer made was being sold and marked as new.
I bought it.
It was meant to be black.
It arrived and with excitement I opened it.
It wasn't  black but a lovely natural wood was it still a Kelly?
I opened the covering.
Yes it was......with the headstock  completely snapped off.
Horrified I contacted the seller and to his credit  he gave me a full refund.
He told me do with it what I wished so im attempting a repair as it would not be financially viable to get it repaired by a luther  and they are all closed anyway.
Its too beautiful a guitar to not try and save.
I started the glue process today .
Ill keep you posted.
If I get the result im looking for Ill write a song on it.
Ill post some photos.

White wood glue - PVA, it sets stronger than the wood it is gluing.

Have a look on the StewMac website, there may be some tips and advice.

I have successfully glued headstocks back on again, an Ovation that a mate had snapped. It's still good.

Good luck

Good luck! It will be a guitar with a good story (and a bargain) if it works out.

There's loads of headstock repair videos on Youtube - I watch a lot of luthier videos as i find it fascinating watching a craftsman build or repair a guitar.

Looks like a fairly clean break - I reckon you can sort that out and have a free guitar !

Ouch indeed, lucky you got your money back. Maybe turn it into the first ever Michael Kelly headless guitar, a la Steinberger?  :D

Seriously, I hope the repairs go well.

Bummer Kenny! I think you are headed in the right direction. A friend's guitar fell off a stand and snapped the head stock off. It looked very much like yours. He glued and clamped it. He still has it and it plays well. That was 10 years ago. Good luck with your project!
