The admin team has decided that, from now on, our Jan/Feb Covers fest will be a tribute to all of the artists who died in the previous year, so there will be no vote for the covers fest this month. In 2017, we had the "Lost in 2016" fest which was quite successful (21 submissions). We think it makes sense to do this every year as we always lose so many great artists. As always, submissions for the fest must be posted within the festival's start and end dates (Jan 1, 2020 - Feb 29, 2020 in this case), but knowing the fest is coming up gives you extra time to think about which songs to cover and even make a start at recording if you like. Just don't post it till Jan 1 if you want it to be included in the Lost in 2019 jukebox.

Thanks to Mike_S for the festival graphics. In case you haven't noticed, Mike has created nearly all of the festival graphics for us since the summer of 2016. His efforts are greatly appreciated. The artists Mike chose for the Lost in 2019 banner are (left to right) Keith Flint (The Prodigy), Ginger Baker (Cream), Ted McKenna (The Sensational Alex Harvey Band), Dr. John, André Previn, Mark Hollis (Talk Talk), Ric Ocasek (The Cars), João Gilberto, Dick Dale, Phil McCormack (Molly Hatchet), James Ingram, Bernie Tormé (Gillan), Peter Tork (The Monkees) and Daniel Johnston. Of course, the fest is not restricted to just those artists. You can cover any artist who died between Jan 1, 2019 and Dec 31, 2019. We'll accept covers of any song the artist performed on or wrote/co-wrote. However, please keep in mind that the intention is to pay tribute to the artist who died, not the band they were in. For example, if you want to cover a Cream song, then "Blue Condition" which was written and sung by Ginger Baker would be a better choice than "Sunshine of Your Love" which was written and sung by Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton.

There are several websites with lists of artists who died in 2019. See this search link:

So start thinking about which songs you want to cover for the Lost in 2019 fest. But please don't neglect the current festivals. The Natural Disaster Fest especially could use a few more submissions.
