Lovely. We're off to Venice in about 5 weeks, but as I am retired, life is one long holiday!

Be VERY careful, JP, in that kind of pools, very high and dangerous tides are extremely frequent...

Ah, lovely Venice...

But, stay away from the bars and restaurants in (or near) Piazza San Marco, too much (TOO MUCH!!!) expensive.

i think in that kind of pool, for me what is dangerous is to fall asleep (water at 32° celsius) with a glass of whisky in my hand

I agree with you, retired myself, life is a long quiet river (if we are lucky enough to have health and a minimum of resources...)
