Antoine Augustin Cournot is a French philosopher and mathematician (1801-1877) who defined chance (ramdon) as the "meeting of two independent causal series". Events in themselves are supposed to be quite determined as to their cause and effect; it is from their unpredictable encounter, from the intrusion of a new independent causality into the course of a process, that chance is born.

  For example :

Haiti 2016 (in humanitarian mission for Doctors Without Borders) I take a well deserved nap in my favorite hammock (under a mango tree)
if I take a mango on the corner of my head, it is because chance has caused two processes to come together that suddenly coincide in time and space.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
