At this stage pain isn't an issue, but the ongoing lack of mobility and inconvenience really is.

Ouch bad news Nick. Hope you make a fast recovery. I broke my arm playing football when I was 30 and had to be put out to have it reset so I understand what you've been through. Plus point you can still play guitar and have a bit of time off work !

Sorry to hear the news, Nick - I hope you're doing okay.

I had a similar incident occur over 15 years ago - broken ankle and fibula, multiple fractures. I ended up having several surgeries to insert and then remove stainless steel hardware to keep everything together (including a screw through the ankle), then physical therapy to regain leg strength after surgeries, etc. All for the best, as the only evidence of the injury I have now are my memories and a still nasty-looking scar running up the side of my calf from my ankle, about 8 inches in length.

Rest up, and take care. If you can do physical therapy later, I highly recommend taking it - it'll help you for years down the road.
