Winter NAMM starts on Thursday, January 25th (a week from today) and runs till Sunday, January 28th. Many companies have already pre-announced new products that they'll be showing at NAMM, so I thought I'd start this topic to post some of the more interesting new products.

I'm not sure what to make of this new KR-55 Pro drum machine from KORG which is supposed to be available this month for $299.99 US.

It looks really cool and I like a lot of its features but "24 styles" sounds a bit limiting, unless there are many different beats under each style. But my first impression is that there aren't multiple beats per style. Instead, each style has the usual variations that we're used to seeing in the BRs, for example, such as intros, fills, and endings. But I haven't read the manual or even the complete web page or press release, so I could very well be missing something.

Still, I can see how it might be useful to some people. It has mixing and recording capabilities and can be operated on batteries, so it might be good if you're just jamming with a couple of friends or doing very small gigs like in the following video.

Korg also announced their new "prologue" polyphonic analogue synth which will be available this month. It comes in a 49-key, 8-voice version for $1499.99 US and a 61-key, 16-voice version for $1999.99 US.

VOX has some new guitar amps featuring "Nutube" technology. This is a new type of vacuum tube technology that is small, lightweight, and low in power consumption. So, presumably, you get the sound of a tube amp with the dependability, light weight, and portability of a solid state amp. Pretty cool if it lives up to its promise.

The MV50 High Gain and MV50 Boutique join the MV50 AC, MV50 Rock, and MV50 Clean which were announced at last year's NAMM.

The MV50 series amps are $199.99 US each or £199, with the two new models expected in April 2018. The MVX150H head is £649 and the MVX150C1 combo amp is £849, and both are expected to be available in April 2018.

Some cracking stuff here 64 , i was interested in the Drum machine to couple up with my Tascam unit but with so many options with usable free software like Hydrogen etc , i could not justify paying that amount of cash , as you may have said possible live usage for a single performer or a duo maybe ?

Yes, it should be at the same level (both quality and price) of Helix LT

It's not cheap. Sweetwater lists it at $999.99 with a MSRP of $1,399.99. And PMT lists it at £879.
