COMMUNICATION
(De Priest/Gupta/Fletcher/Wilkerson)
(c) 2010, 2017

Verse 1: (0:27 -)
Em
I think I died tonight.
I'm sure I did.
Some random electronic surge
Knocked me off the grid.
Verse 2:
And severed each connection,
All my circuits shutting down.
Left me helpless, deaf and dumb
Cut off from light and sound.

Chorus: (0:54 -)
C
Though it was too dark to see
I could feel reality
A
Like a shadow, patiently,
                                       Em
Reaching out and touching me.
G
Now I've lost all connection.
How will I know who to be?
A
Solitude, like an infection
                                      Em
Reaching out and touching me.

Short Instrumental (1:32 - )

Verse 3: (1:41 - )
At least I had my phone.
The tiny screen
Helped me fight the desperate urge
That made me want to scream.
Verse 4:
The battery was running out.
I felt a wave of cold despair
Like a diver, trapped below
Slowly running out of air.

Chorus: (2:08 - )
Though it was too dark to see
I could feel reality
Like a shadow, patiently,
Reaching out and touching me.
Now I've lost all connection.
How will I know who to be?
Solitude, like an infection
Reaching out and touching me.

Solo for guitar (2:45 - )

Verse 5: (3:22 - )
I ran out in the night.
And all around
Other people, deaf and dumb
Cut off from light and sound.
Verse 6:
Desperate for connection
We all began to talk.
Conversations with no hands,
Up and down the block.

Repeat Chorus (3:50 - )

Outro : Instrumental break (4:28 - )

WOW! I agree Stoman, this is a great song. Some good writing and performances. The lyric scenario is well written and so contemporary. It shows what might happen if the connection and power were lost. You did a fine job of mixing and mastering this. Pass on the kudos to your musical friends.
