Really nice tune, and I'm digging the understated vocal performance. You should work this up into a big power ballad (drums and bass come in second verse, big solo, mandatory spandex...). Kinda has an "Every Rose has a Thorn" vibe. Say what you will about the band, but that was a pretty concise and catchy pop song.

I really like the lyric, thoughtful, balanced, excellant.

The music fits the lyric very well.  Yet, yes it could hold up to expansion into a full band recording.
