The inspiration for this one was that I wanted to do a blues tune that wasn't just a regular 12 bar. A "standard" blues works well if there are vocals, but as in instrumental it usually just becomes a jam over a looped set of chords & I wanted something more melodic  & "song-like" on this one.

It's the first tune I've ever done which uses every instrument I own:

Main riff: "Blackie" (the HB humbucker tele)

HB acoustic... for some reason, I've found that a ballsy electric guitar power chord part sounds even "bigger" when you double it on an acoustic.

Power chord rhythm guitar parts: Telecaster

Lead Guitar: HB Les Paul clone

No-name bass

Cakewalk SI drums & Vox Tonelab

As for the title... when the band kicks in behind the opening riff, I thought "that sounds a bit plodding". In the UK, a slang term for a police officer is "plod". Another name for a cop is "woodentop". Hence the title :)

Thanks for listening!
