This one started out as an acoustic offering, but by the time John left, we ended up with this. First post with my new Fender Deluxe Reverb amp (for the main riff). Love that thing. Thanks to Ginger Baker for the drum inspiration. I should redo the outro with a wah solo and turn down the vocals a tad, but this is it for now. The meandering bass during the outro amuses me to no end.

I was working on these lyrics on the drive out to Bruce's.  I scribbled the beginning in my book before I got out of the car.  When I walked in, he sat down with his acoustic and said, "I have a chord progression."  I said, "I have some lyrics."  I wrote some more while he fleshed out the rest of the tune, then we threw an acoustic version on the micro BR before we lost the feel.  The guitar riff on electric was the clincher.  That amp sounds good.

Water                        Bruce Johnson & John Young

Everything that we eat
Made artificially sweet
By the billions that bought the FDA
Reelection campaigns
Financed by the cane
Polluting the South Florida Bays
When you buy your own rules
The rest of us fools
Are stuck living downstream in your waste

You may think I'm crass
But I don't like your grass
And all it takes to maintain perfect green
Chemicals you pour on
Use to spruce up your lawn
End up bubbling out of our springs
It's a cultural command
To dominate the land
By maintaining this unnatural sheen

We can stand up now
We can show our politicians how
We can help the people understand
How the water's tied to the land

If we don't stop to think
About the water we drink
We'll all be thirsty one day
The next line you cast
Boat with motor or mast
Or paddle in our waterways
Will be washed by headwaters
Our sons and our daughters
Will want to seek out for play
